Teaching + Student Engagement
My classes are highly interactive and hands-on.
Students and families receive a materials list in advance and actively work with manipulatives during class, while I model concepts using my document camera. This ensures that concrete, hands-on learning remains central, even in an online setting.
My Fast Facts program builds speed, accuracy, and confidence with essential math facts through consistent, structured practice. Students are assigned bite-sized sets of facts and core skills at each level to practice weekly, helping them develop quick, reliable recall so they can focus on problem solving and higher-level thinking.
Students stay engaged through multiple forms of participation, including raising hands, sharing answers verbally, using whiteboards, annotating on screen (with permission), and interacting through the Zoom chat. Throughout each lesson, I continually monitor student understanding and adjust instruction as needed.
Unlike prerecorded video programs, my live classes allow me to respond immediately to student questions, correct misconceptions as they arise, and tailor instruction to meet individual learning needs.
Each class also concludes with live, interactive Kahoot and Blooket games, allowing students to apply what they have learned in an engaging format while giving me valuable, real-time insight into their understanding.
Class Structure
Each class follows a consistent, structured format designed to build confidence, reinforce understanding, and support long-term mastery:
-
Fast Facts practice
-
Review of previous concepts and homework questions
-
Lesson introducing new material using the concrete–pictorial–abstract learning approach
-
Guided practice from the textbook
-
Review game (often using Kahoot or similar interactive platforms)
Homework + Pacing
Students are expected to complete assigned practice between classes to reinforce concepts and build fluency. Homework is purposeful, manageable, and clearly paced in the course syllabus.
Most students should expect:
-
About 1-1.5 hours total of homework per week in between sessions
-
Optional, but highly recommended, math facts practice through the Fast Facts program
-
Optional enrichment activities on the Syllabus
Classes follow a consistent pacing schedule based on the Dimensions Math curriculum and are outlined in the syllabus. Lessons are sequenced to build strong foundational skills before moving forward.
Because the curriculum is cumulative, consistent attendance and completion of assignments are important. Falling behind can make future topics more challenging.
Parents are encouraged to:
-
Provide a quiet, distraction-free workspace
-
Check and review completed assignments
-
Communicate if their child is struggling with material by emailing Mrs. Holiday
-
Email questions from homework before class so they can be addressed during instruction
Syllabus + Materials
Before classes begin, families receive access to my thoughtfully designed, easy-to-follow syllabus for their class. This syllabus is designed to provide a clear, organized framework for the semester, with all essential resources in one place.
It includes:
-
A weekly schedule of topics and assignments
-
A complete list of required materials
-
Access to weekly class recordings
-
Optional instructional videos, games, and extension activities
-
My Fast Facts program
-
Links to Kahoot and Blooket review games aligned with each lesson
This structure allows families to stay organized, support learning at home, and feel confident about expectations throughout the year.
If a student is unable to attend a live class, the recorded lesson is uploaded to the syllabus after each class day. Students are encouraged to watch the recording before the next class to stay on track.
Pre-requisites + Placement
New to Dimensions Math? We strongly recommend completing the placement tests before enrolling to ensure your student enters the correct level. This helps confirm mastery of prerequisite skills and supports confident, successful learning. It is recommended that students preparing for Level 3A score at least 75% on the following placement tests:
Dimensions Math® Level 2A Test
Dimensions Math® Level 2B Test
Singapore Math follows a different pace and sequence than many traditional math programs. As a result, some students may be placed in a level that does not match their current grade level. This is very common and not a cause for concern. Placement is based on readiness and understanding, ensuring that each student is positioned for long-term success and confidence in mathematics.
Technology Requirements
Reliable internet, Zoom access, and a device with camera and microphone are required for participation.

Enrollment + Next Steps
Once enrollment is complete through my website, families receive access to the syllabus up to one month before classes begin. This includes the materials list and essential class information to ensure a smooth and confident start.
Enrollment is completed by semester. Registering for this class secures a student’s spot for one semester only. Families must register separately for the second semester.
This course is designed as a full-year program. Students are expected to attend both the fall and spring semesters in order to receive the complete grade-level curriculum.
